Greetings everyone!

My name is Diallo Sessoms and I am a professor at Salisbury University. Educational technology is my area of expertise. My interests include the Internet, interactive devices, programming, and storytelling.

This website is dedicated to Digital Storytelling. Digital Storytelling is a method of communication that allows both teachers and students to be content producers. A digital story consists of narration (voice), images, and music. These combine to create a rich leanring opportunity for the viewer.

Originally, my focus on digital stories centered around personal stories. As a professor, I have had students create stories that focused on humor, teaching math, sharing personal stories such as dealing with breast cancer, social phenomena such as 9/11, and more.

After securing a grant and attending the TPS conferences, I began thinking of different ways to use the resources in the Library of Congress. My passion for digital storytelling and the resources found in the Library of Congress created a union that students enjoy. This site provides resources for creating digital stories as well as examples of stories created by teachers and pre-service teachers.

Creating a digital story is an exploration in:

  • Creativity

  • Multimedia

  • Writing

  • Research

  • Public Speaking

  • Sharing

  • Analyzing

This list could grow and I hope you can envision the depth of Digital Storytelling.
